Curriculum Vitae

Extensive experience of producing media across multiple platforms, both independently, and as a team member in a fast-paced, demanding media environment. An extremely competent communicator with an expert knowledge of social video, social media and editing software. I can work proficiently under stress and to deadline with strong editorial judgement. Very interested in the convergence of traditional and new media and how the landscape of journalism is changing. I pride myself on my broad sports knowledge and passion. Will graduate from City, University of London this July.

Experience /

That’s Manchester / Intern / September 2015 - May 2016 /

Year long internship, taken during year in industry. Started as a casual intern. Promoted to sports reporter, presenter and producer. Achievements include:

  • Gained international traction on my story about Tom Brady Vs. Tom Brady

  • Played football with Alan Shearer

  • Scripted, produced and presented a sports news chat show

BBC Sport / Work Experience / Multimedia team / May 2017

Two days work experience with BBC Sport in their Salford office. After this, I was offered freelance work. Tasks completed:

  • Created multiple videos from both archived and live footage

  • Perfected video editing skills to BBC standard

  • Learned how to embed videos on the BBC website

Student Media / Multiple roles / 2013-2016

Helped set up and run City’s independent news provider, The Square. Worked as Sports Editor. Our weekly engagement hit over 10 thousand people. Skills acquired:

  • Organising a team of student journalists to cover matches

  • Sourcing and writing reports and features

  • Editing work

  • Strong headline skills

  • Expert knowledge of social media platforms

TechCityInsider and St John Street News / Reporter 2015

I covered the Digital Shoreditch and the Clerkenwell Design Festival Responsibilities:

  • Interviewing key speakers for reports

  • Writing features and reviews

  • Social media updates and content management

  • Providing audio and video content

  • Collaborating with video and social teams

Longside Radio / Editor, Researcher, Presenter and Head of News / 2012 - 2016 
I produced and presented my own show, The Ellie Brennan Show, on a Friday evening. Other responsibilities: 
Supporting all teams on multiple projects
Editing and uploading interviews
Head of news for their first FM license for Upton Blues Festival
Presenting, producing, editing and writing the hourly news bulletin. 
 

Worcester News Work experience 2012 and 2013

Completed two separate sets of work experience at Worcester News, Worcestershire's local paper. Tasks completed:

  • Writing copy from press releases

  • Photography and research for the street style section

  • Conducted several interviews and transcribed the results
